EU registration certificate (certificado de registro de ciudadano de la UE)
What it is
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens who stay in Spain for more than three months must register. You apply in person within three months of arriving, and the certificate is issued straight away. After five years you can request permanent residence. This certificate does not apply to UK nationals (see the TIE guide).
Documents usually needed
- Form EX-18
- Proof of payment of the fee, modelo 790 código 012
- Your valid passport or national ID card (if it has expired, a copy plus proof you have applied to renew it)
- Documents showing you meet the requirements of article 7 of Real Decreto 240/2007 (for example work, self-employment, or enough resources plus health insurance, or studies)
This is a summary. Your situation may need other documents. The official page is what counts.
